Moving time

Image
We are getting the keys on Friday and our furniture comes the following Monday!!  Yay!!   In the meantime we have been explring more lovely places around the area and seeing more wildflowers. The waratahs are in bud and so are the flannel flowers. and the other day there was an echidna which was very exciting  We're still enjoying life and really looking forward to being settled.

We have a house

Image
We have a house - or we will do. And it's the house we really wanted. The current tenants have run into difficulties with their move so we won't be moving till next week some time. We have paid a deposit and the bond so... back to waiting but this time without the anxiety. In the meantime we have been looking for a car and have decided on a second hand VW Tiguan. We will pick it up at the end of this week. We like the VWs. The seats are really comfortable and the indicators are on the 'right' side. It's taller than the Golf we had so Doug's parents can get in and out more easily. Heidi might need a step up into the back.   That's 2 goals achieved - or nearly achieved. The next one we hope to achive is Doug getting a job We have also tried to explore Mt Kincumba but we came across a big 'NO DOGS' sign so we backed off. I did see this orchid on the side of the road so the trip wasn't quite wasted. It is called 'white fingers'

Random local photos

There were steps and she climbed up I think this one should be called a phantom crab - it looks like it has a white half mask. Another 'cubby' house or two on the beach View looking south from Marie Byles lookout Kilcare. There were whip birds - but carefully hiding in the thick shrubbery Landed with brakes on! Not dry enough yet View from Empire Bay foreshore   As you can see everything is 'up and around and down' here. We are getting fit walking Heidi because we are living near the top of the ridge and when we go out we have to come back up again to get back.

Various birds around the place that I have managed to photograph

Image
We have seen lots of different birds around the place and I have even managed to photograph some...   Superb wren just hopping near me today Yellow robin White-throated tree creeper Kookaburras are local here A king parrot in the tree out the front Brush turkeys do fly up into trees! I wouldn't like to be pecked by this long-billed corella!

We have also been on some excursions to nice places like Brisbane Water National Park for wildflowers (Doug and Heidi had to stay on the roadside).   And up Mount Kincumba for exercise   Heidi tried to help with my lunch And then there was Strickland State forest

Interesting Things

Image
Here's a few interesting things that I have noticed whist waiting for the house we want to be available to view. There was a big storm which left debris and people have been building cubby houses on the beaches This was on one side of a public pathway. Which game would you like to play? What a creative idea for a stump! Another Cubby

Doings

I feel like we are marking time till we can see the house we want to rent. Even so we have been filling our days. We take Heidi for a walk each day. It has been on the beach for the last few days. This morning we went to MacMasters beach, as we did on Monday. It is a surf beach with a stream running into the ocean from a lake. Yesterday's beach walk was at Pearl Beach. There was also a stream running down it which is something you rarely see in WA. There was also a view of Lion Island and loud and splooshy waves with lots of foam. Heidi sensibly stayed out of the water, except for the stream where she had a drink. It must have been fresh water. On the way to Pearl Beach yesterday we visited Patonga. We had to drive through the Brisbane Water National Park and there were wildflowers out!!! Unfortunately Heidi had to stay in the van and it was coming on to rain so I only got out for a couple of minutes and only got a couple of photos. I'm itching to get back there. The roads wer...
